Why Children are Picky Eaters

Most children only eat one type of food daily. They do not mind always eating the same kinds of food even for long periods of time. This is mainly because during this stage of a child life, his food tastes and preferences are still developing. Most children are also afraid to try something new because they might not like what is served to them. If their picky habits are not corrected immediately, it may cause health problems in a future.

It is good therefore for children to learn how to eat a balanced meal for their breakfast lunch and dinner. Eating a balanced meal can be done by adding small amounts of the new type of food to his or her old dish. Giving a background of how nutritious and yummy a food or viand tastes like will also make your child more willing to try the new food type.

It is important not to force your child to eat the new type food because the next time your child might become more unwilling to eat that kind of food served again. Eating the food that you would like your child to eat is also another way on how you can motivate your child to eat new viands. Remember that children need enough vitamins and minerals that can be taken from different food sources to be able to grow healthy and fit.
